ICS Designer Award Kick-off - DeYang Station

2024 ICS Color Space Design Award — Deyang Kick-Off Recap

Exploring the Emotional Power of Color in Design

On August 23, 2024, the ICS Color Space Design Award launched its first city stop in Deyang, gathering designers and industry professionals to explore how color conveys emotion in space. Centered around the theme “Emotional Space,” the event offered a day of inspiration, dialogue, and creative expression.

Color as Emotional Language

More than visual appeal, color shapes atmosphere, evokes emotion, and deepens the meaning of spatial design. The event encouraged attendees to reflect on how color connects people to their environments on a sensory and emotional level.

Competition Briefing

Wen Shunli, Design Director at Qingteng Decoration, introduced the origins and goals of the ICS Award. He outlined this year’s competition details, including theme interpretation, submission guidelines, and judging criteria.

Designer Insights

ICS Award recipient Hu Jing shared her creative journey and thoughts on this year’s theme. Her talk offered personal reflections on how color helped her express emotional depth in design.

Art Village Walk and Creative Workshops

Participants were invited to slow down and find inspiration through a guided village walk and hands-on craft sessions. Traditional tie-dye and marbled fan-making allowed guests to translate emotion into meaningful, tactile artworks.
