Laurentide® Paint
Founded in 1950 in Shawinigan, Quebec, Société Laurentide is one of Canada’s longest-standing paint manufacturers, known for its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and 100% Canadian ownership.
Its core brand, Laurentide® Paint, launched Boomerang®—Canada’s first recycled paint—in 2001, leading the market in circular economy initiatives and low-VOC formulations.
Today, Laurentide® serves residential and commercial sectors across Canada, with eco-certified products trusted by municipalities, contractors, and environmentally conscious consumers alike.

Founded in 1950 in Shawinigan, Quebec, Société Laurentide is one of Canada's oldest and most respected paint manufacturers, built on a tradition of innovation, environmental stewardship, and community partnership. From its earliest years, the company has invested in R&D to create coatings that meet the highest standards of performance, durability, and environmental responsibility.
In 1993, long before sustainability became a mainstream concept, Société Laurentide launched Laurentide Environment, a dedicated division focused on the recovery and reprocessing of post-consumer paint. This pioneering move laid the foundation for its circular economy model and established the company as an early leader in paint recycling. That commitment culminated in the launch of Boomerang® in 2001—the first recycled paint brand of its kind in Canada—offering high-quality, eco-certified coatings made from recovered materials.
The company’s focus on innovation continued with the introduction of the Infinite Base™ tinting system in 2014. This universal base allows retailers to produce a full range of paint colors using a single formulation, streamlining inventory, reducing waste, and ensuring color consistency across applications. Such technological advancements reflect Laurentide’s ongoing efforts to simplify processes while improving product quality.
Société Laurentide has also become a recognized sustainability leader in North America, having recovered over 100 million kilograms of leftover paint through its province-wide network of municipal and retail partners. Its operations are certified under stringent environmental standards, including UL ECOLOGO® Certification, Recycled Content Certification, and recognition by Product Care Recycling Canada. These accolades demonstrate the brand’s alignment with rigorous green building protocols and environmental policies across Canada.
Beyond environmental milestones, Laurentide® Paint is widely used in both residential and commercial markets, offering interior and exterior paints that meet the needs of homeowners, professionals, and institutional clients. Its products are renowned for low VOC emissions, exceptional durability, and a color palette that reflects Canadian heritage and contemporary design trends.
Today, Société Laurentide continues to operate entirely within Canada, employing hundreds of people across its manufacturing, R&D, and environmental divisions. The company remains privately held and proudly independent, with a legacy defined by community engagement, responsible innovation, and industry leadership in sustainable coatings.
